Hello Forum.

I am just taking the first steps into Forex trading and hoping to
learn and enjoy.

Many trading platforms/brokers eschew the use of a demo account,
saying that it does not encourage you to trade as you would if the
money were real. Whilst this is certainly true, I do not believe that
this has no value.

What a demo account has done for me is to allow me to explore
some consequences of stupidity/ignorance/lack of attention, by taking
exploratory positions and experimenting. This is of enormous value
as a learning tool. It is far more important (IMHO), when learning
a new bunch of skills, to discover what NOT to do, than to adopt
a few set-piece strategies and remain unaware of the results of
straying outside them until you suddenly lose a lot of real cash.

I think RTFX have the right approach and I look forward to many
interesting exchanges on this forum.
