Euro steady against its major rivals following the status quo monetary policy, press conference Trichet underway.

The euro is steady against its major rivals. Mr. Jean-Claude Trichet begins his press conference, following the announcement of the interest rate status quo 1.00% at 13.45 CET. For now, he said that inflation rates are likely to become positive by the end of 2009, when it could be negative for a few months this summer 2009. The market remains sensitive to any statement about future monetary policy in the euro area.
