The Nikkei finished the session 0.44% down on Monday, European markets are closed, and Wall Street is open.

The Nikkei closed down 0.44% at 8'924.43 this morning. Trade volumes were low, the European markets are closed, while Wall Street is open.

On the foreign exchange market, the "carry trades" are up, the EURJPY to 133 deals, the GBPJPY at 148.40. The New Zealand dollar and Australian, as well as the pound sterling are up. The yen is falling behind, falling to 100.67 against the dollar.
